The irony lies in the fact that words incscribed on the statue revealed the pride , arragance and vanity of the Ozymandias who consider himself to be the king of king .he was powerful king who had defeated all the mighty kings on the land and their empires . He ws proud of his power and glory . He challenged the passer by to look at his achievements and beware of him but the central irony revealed that not a single trace of his glory could be seen anywhere. The statue of most powerful ruler breakdown nd lie buried in the sand . It was ignored by all . the great works of Ozymandias was not able to withstand the ravages of time and nature . Those who wanted to attain immorality through their work would face decline in vourse of time . Time is the greatest leveller of all things The irony in the poem is the fact that the ruler carved as a sculpture is depicted to be very powerful and tyrannous. He is shown to be boastful of the fact that he is the greatest ruler of all times. However, he hasn\'t been able to win over time. Time is shown here to be more powerful and destructive than the ruler. This ironical situation projects the truth that man doesn\'t have control over the laws of nature and time does not take into consideration the mount of power one possesses. |
