Solution :(i) Blood EXTENDERS are perfluorocarbons such as perfluorodecalin.
(ii) Blood extenders DISSOLVE gases like `O_(2)` and `CO_(2)` and thus serve as temporary SUBSTITUTES for haemoglobin-the oxygen carrying protein in blood.
