Bhors's theory of atom

Answer»

\huge{\textbf{\underline{\underline{Bohr's\;atomic\;theory}}}}

  • An atom consists of a nucleus at the center at the center and electrons are REVOLVE around the nucleus in a definite CIRCULAR PATH known as orbit.
  • Each orbit will have definite amount of energy, therefore these levels are also known as stationary states.
  • As long as the electron revolve in the particular orbit it doesn't loss or gain the energy.
  • The angular momentum of the electron should be equal to integral multiple of \frac{h}{2 \pi}.
  • If an electron JUMPS lower energy to higher level, it absorbs the energy, similarly when the electron jumps from higher energy level to lower energy level,it emits the energy.
  • Energy released or absorbed is equal to different in the energy or 2 orbit and it is equal to frequency of the radiation.
  • \Delta E  = h \nu \\ E_2 - E_1 =  \Delta E
  • With the HELP of these postulates Bhor was able to derive the energy and radius of the orbit of hydrogen atom.
  • \gamma _n =  {n}^{2} a_o \: \:  (hydrogen \: atom)
