Answer the following : Why does fluorine not play the role of a central atom in interhalogen compounds ? |
|
Answer» Solution :FLUORINE does not PLAY the ROLE of central ATOM in interhalogen COMPOUNDS. For an atom to play the role of central atom, it has to be bigger and more electropositive than the other atom in an interhalogen compound. Fluorine is the smallest and most electronegative of all the halogens. Hence, it cannot play the role of central atom. |
