1 )  Make a line perpendicular to line of 5 CM from the point x.

Now the perpendicular line drawn will be equal to 4 cm. It is because  it forms a rectangle being PARALLEL to the line of 4 cm.

Now the small line made on 5 cm line due to intersection of the perpendicular line will be equal to 5 - 3 , i.e, 2 cm.

Now applying Pythagoras to find x.

(2)² + (4)² = (x)²

4 + 16 = (x)²

x = √20 = 2√5 cm
