An object 2cm tall is placed in front of a concave mirror of radius of curvature 20cm at a distance of 5cm. Find the position, nature and size of the image. |
|
Answer» It is given that,
we have to calculate the position , nature and size of the mirror . Firstly we calculate the focal length of the mirror.
➻ f = 20/2 CM ➻ f = 10cm Now, calculating the image distance . By using Mirror Formula .
Substitute the value we get ➻ 1/v + 1/-5 = 1/10 ➻ 1/v - 1/5 = 1/10 ➻ 1/v = 1/10 + 1/5 ➻ 1/v = 1+2/10 ➻ 1/v = 3/10 ➻ v = 10/3 = 3.33 cm
Now, calculating the magnification of the mirror
➻ hi/2 = -10/3 × 1/-5 ➻ hi/2 = 2/3 ➻ hi = 4/3 cm
