1.

An electric pump has 2kW power. How much water will the pump lift every minute to a height of 10 m ?

Answer»

GIVEN:-

power=2kW=2000W

h=10m

t=1 MIN=60 sec

g=10 m/s^2

power =  \frac{work \: done}{time}

2000 =  \frac{work \: done}{60}

work \: done = 2000 \times 60 -  - (1)

and,

work \: done = mgh -  - (2)

by EQ. 1 and 2

2000 \times 60 = m \times 10 \times 10

m = 60 \times 20

m = 1200 \: <klux>KG</klux>

so, 1200 kg of water PUMP every min
