An ant travels a distance of 8 cm from p to q and then moves a distance of 6 cm at right angles to pq. What is the distance |
|
Answer» From Q to P the ant travelled 8 cm. Then at P it moves 6 cm to QP at right angle. So, if you make a diagram, you will notice that a right angle will be formed if you draw a line. Displacement is the shortest distance between TWO points. So, the shortest path is the hypotenuse of the triangle. Using PYTHAGORAS theorem, Legs are 8 cm and 6 cm. 8^2 + 6^2 = 64 + 36 = 100 Square root of 100 = 10 So, the displacement should be 10 cm. hope it helps... mark as Brainliast |
