An aeroplane takes 3 hours to cover a distance of 3,600 km. Another aeroplane travels at a speed which is 100 km per hour less than the first aeroplane. How long will the second aeroplane take to cover the same distance?

Answer»

Answer :

3.27 hours

Step-by-step explanation :

we know,

       \boxed{\bf Speed=\frac{distance  \ <klux>COVERED</klux>}{time \ taken}}

  • An aeroplane takes 3 hours to cover a distance of 3,600 km

    Distance covered = 3600 km

              Time taken = 3 hours

 => Speed of first aeroplane = 3600 km/3 H

                                               = 1200 km/h

  • Another aeroplane travels at a speed which is 100 km per hour less than the first aeroplane.

  => Speed of second aeroplane = (1200 - 100) km/h

                                                       = 1100 km/h

we have to find the time taken to cover the same distance by the second aeroplane.

           Distance covered = 3600 km

               1100 km/h = 3600 km/time taken

               time taken = 3600/1100

              time taken = 36/11

              time taken = 3.27 hours (approximately)

∴ The time taken by the second aeroplane TAKE to cover the same distance = 3.27 hours
