1.

A tv tower has a height of 100 m. What is the maximum distance upto which the t.V. Transmission can be received (r = 8 x 106 m)?

Answer»

We know, \bf{d=\sqrt{2hR}}
where h is height of TV tower , R is radius of earth and and d is maximum DISTANCE UPTO which the TV TRANSMISSION can be received.

Here, h = 100m
R = 8 × 10^6 m

so, d = √(2 × 100 × 8 × 10^6)
d = √(16 × 10^8) = 4 × 10^4 m
d = 40 km

hence, 40KM is the maximum distance upto which TV transmission can be received.
