What is the length and speed of train?

Answer-:

  • Well assume the train's length is x.
  • We also KNOW that the speed of the train is the same when it's crossing both the bridges.
  • In ORDER to completely cross a bridge, the train has to cover the length of the bridge as well it's own length. So in either cases the train COVERS a total distance of 210+x and 122+x .
  • Since the speed is the same, we can SAY:

-> (210+x)/25=(122+x)/17 = speed of the train

-> (210+x)*17=(122+x)*25

-> 210*17+17x=122*25+25x

-> (210*17) - (122*25) = 8x

-> x= 65

So the length of the train is 65m

The speed of the train = (210+65)/25 or (122+65)/17 =11m/sec.

Thus,the length of train is 65 metre and the speed of train is 11 metre per second.
