A small drop of liquid is always spherical in shape. Why? |
|
Answer» Due to surface tension Falling\xa0drop\xa0of a\xa0liquid is always spherical in shape\xa0due to surface tension. The inward forces on the surface molecules of the\xa0liquid droplet\xa0tend to cause the surface to volume ratio as\xa0small\xa0as possible. Liquid drops\xa0are\xa0spherical\xa0because of surface tension. Hence when\xa0small\xa0amount of\xa0liquid\xa0is separated from rest in the form of\xa0drop, the whole amount of\xa0liquid\xa0gets in the most energy efficient\xa0shape\xa0i.e. sphere due to the attraction of atoms/molecules, which we call surface tension. |
