Answer» Question:-A rectangular BLOCK of ice measures 50 cm by 20 cm by 15 cm. If ice weights 9/10 of the same volume of water and 1 cubic centimetre of water weighs 1 gm, calculate its mass in kg. Required Answer:-Given:-
To Find:-
Solution:- We know that:- Volume of a rectangular block = lbh Where,
Therefore, Volume of the ice block = 50cm × 20cm × 15cm => Volume of the ice block = (50 × 20 × 15)cm³ => Volume of the ice block = 15000cm³ Now, we were given:- The ice weights 9/10 of the same volume of water. Which means if the water weights X units, the ice will weight (9/10 × x)units. Hence, 1cm³ water weights 1g ∴ 1cm³ ice block weights (9/10 × 1)g = 0.9g Now, 1cm³ ice block weights 0.9g ∴ 15000cm³ ice block weights (0.9 × 15000)g = 13500g As we know that :- 1000g = 1kg ∴ 15000cm³ ice block weights = (13500/1000)kg = 13.5kg Hence,the mass of the ice block is 13.5kg |
