1.

a rational number when multiplied by 3/2 and subtracted from 5/12 gives -6/7 find the rational number (Linear equations class 8)

Answer»

K YA good. This is the first question with Chp. n class mentioned that I have come across.
So now for the answer.

Let the rational number be 'x'
When multiplied by 3/2,
x * 3/2 = 3x/2

Subtracting it from 5/12
5/12 - 3x/2
(LCM=12)
5/12 - 3x/2 * 6/6
5/12 - 18x/12

So, we get

5-18x/12 = -6/7
7(5-18x) = 12(-6) (Transposing denominators to opposite sides)
35 - 126x = -72
-126x = -72 + 35 (Transposing 35 to RHS)
-126x = -37
126x = 37
x = 37/126

Now, there's the answer. 'x = 37/126'. It's the final answer as it cannot be further simplified.

I HOPE you found my answer useful, my FRIEND.
