Answer»

A merchant has 120 kg of rice. He sells a part of it at a profit of 10% and the rest at a profit of 25%

so, x kg of rice sold at 10% profit(120 - x) kg of rice sold at 25% profit

so, total profit is 15% profit

15% of 120 = 10% of x + 25% of (120 - x)15*120 = 10x + 25(120-x)1800 = 10x + 3000 - 25x1800-3000 = -15x-1200 = -15xx = 1200/15x = 80

x = 80 kg of rice at 10% profit120-x = 120-80 = 40 kg
