To find :   How MANY pounds of each should use

Solution:

Let p = pounds of peanuts

peanuts cost $4.00 per pound

=> Cost of p pounds of peanuts  = 4P  $

Let c = pounds of cashews

cashews cost $6.50 per pound.

=>  Cost of c pounds of peanuts  = 6.5C  $

Total Cost = 4P  + 6.5C  $

10 Pound Mixture Cost = 10 * 4.75 = 47.5 $

=> 4P  + 6.5C = 47.5

   P + C  = 10

=> 4P + 4C =  40

=> 2.5C =  7.5

=> C = 3

& P = 7

3 pounds cashew & 7 pounds of Peanuts
