Correct QUESTION

A factory produces electric bulbs if ONE out of every 10 bulbs is defective and the factory produced 630 bulbs per day. Find the number of defective bulbs produced each day.

Solution

Let the number of defective bulbs produced per day be x.

Number of defective bulbs out of 10 bulbs is 1.

Total number of bulbs produced by factory = 630

Now,

The ratio of number of defective bulbs to the total number of bulbs = 1/10

Similarly,

The ratio of the assumed number of defective bulbs to the total number of bulbs produces every day = x/630

According to question,

⇒ 1/10 = x/630

Cross-multiply them

⇒ x(10) = 1(630)

⇒ 10x = 630

⇒ x = 630/10

⇒ x = 63

Therefore,

63 defective bulbs produced each day.
