1.

A body having uniform acceleration of 10ms^(-2) has a velocity of 100ms^(-1). In what time, the velocity will be doubled?

Answer»

ong>Answer:

Accelerarion (a)=10m/s^2

Final velocity(V) =100m/s

It is understood that INITIAL velocity (u)= 0

According to the first kinematical equation,

v = u +at

100 = 0+10t

t=100/10

t=10 s…….(1)

Similarly,

When v is doubled= 2v =2×100= 200m/s,

v=u +at

200= 0 +10t

t= 200/10

t=20 s …..(2)

THEREFORE, time taken to double the velocity

=20 -10

=10 s

Hence, the time taken to double the velocity is 10s.
