Answer» LET us assume B ALONE can polish the floor in x days. So in 1 day B alone will polish 1/xth part of the floor. A & B JOINTLY can polish the floor in 18 days. So in I day both A & B together can polish 1/18th part of the floor. A alone can polish 1/6th part in 4 days, so in 1 day A can polish 1/(6×4)=1/24th part. So as PER logic 1/x+1/24=1/18, or,1/x=1/18–1/24=1/72. or x=72 days. B alone will polish the floor in 72 days. |
