Answer»

Question:

Each of the two equal angles of a triangle is TWICE the third ANGLE. Find the angles of the triangle.

Solution:

Let each equal angle (in DEGREES) = x

Let the third angle (in degrees) = y

According to question

x = 2y

We know,

x + x + y = 180° (Angle Sum Property)

Putting value of x

2y + 2y + y = 180°

5y = 180°

y = \dfrac{180^{\circ}}{5}

y = 36°

Value of x

x = 2y

x = 2(36°)

x = 72°

Therefore, the angles are 72°, 72° and 36°.
