8. A train covers a distance of 180 km in 4 h 30 m. Find its aver29.speedhigh. How much watertank is 8 m long, 5 m broad and 2 mcontain?

Answer»

The difference between the distances covered by the two trains in one hour is 15 km.

Solution:

First train's distance = 180 km

Time = 4 hours

Speed = 180 / 4

= 45 km/hr

Second train's distance = 180 km

Time = 4 - 1 = 3 hours

Speed = 180 / 3

= 60 km/hr

Distance covered by the first train in 1 hour is,

Distance = 45 * 1 = 45 km

Distance covered by the second train in 1 hour is,

Distance = 60 * 1 = 60 km

Difference between the distances = 60 - 45 = 15 km

Hence the difference between the distances covered by the two trains in one hour is 15 km.
