1.

7. 'Over the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries the English countrysidechanged dramatically.' Explain.

Answer»

Farmers in the early 18th century started the enclosure movement to improve agriculture on a regular basis in the English countryside.

Enclosures were seen as necessary to make long-term investments on land and plan crop rotations to improve the soil. It also allowed the richer landowners to expand the land under their control and produce more for the market thus earning profits.
