1.

5x-2y+3=0, If (0, a) and (b, 0) are the solutions of the given linear equation. Find ‘a’ and ‘b’.

Answer» \bold{Answer :}

Given equation is

5x - 2Y + 3 = 0 ...(i)

Since, (0, a) is a solution of (i),

5 (0) - 2 (a) + 3 = 0

or, 0 - 2a + 3 = 0

or, 2a = 3

or, a = 3/2

Again (b, 0) is a solution of (i); so,

5 (b) - 2 (0) + 3 = 0

or, 5b - 0 + 3 = 0

or, 5b = - 3

or, b = - 3/5

Therefore, the VALUE of a is 3/2 and that of b is (- 3/5).
