Analysis :

Here we have to solve the linear equations simultaneously. We have to solve it by elimination method.

Explanation :

3x + 2y = 5 ------(EQ.(i))

2x - 3y = 12 ------(eq.(ii))

Multiplying eq.(i) with 2 and eq.(ii) with 3,

6x + 4y = 10 ------(eq.(iii))

6x - 9Y = 36 ------(eq.(iv))

Subtracting eq.(iv) from eq.(iii),

⇒ 4y + 9y = -26

⇒ 13y = -26

⇒ y = -26/13

⇒ y = -2

∴ y = -2.

  • Putting the y = -2 in eq.(i),

⇒ 3x + 2y = 5

⇒ 3x + 2(-2) = 5

⇒ 3x + (-4) = 5

⇒ 3x - 4 = 5

⇒ 3x = 5 + 4

⇒ 3x = 9

⇒ x = 9/3

⇒ x = 3

∴ x = 3.

The value of x is 3 and y is -2.
