1.

2. Find out the magnitude of force actingon a box when 1000 J of work is done todisplace it by 5 m.

Answer»

GIVEN :-

Work done by the force = 1000 J

The DISPLACEMENT of the box = 5 m

To Find :-

The magnitude of force acting  on a box.

Analysis :-

Here we are given with the work done and the displacement of the body.

In order to find the force applied substitute the given VALUES such that, work done is equal to the force applied MULTIPLIED by the displacement.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • w = Work
  • s = Displacement
  • f = Force

Using the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf Work \ done=Force \times Displacement}}

Given that,

Work done (w) = 1000 J

Displacement (s) = 5 m

Substituting their values,

⇒ w = f × s

⇒ 1000 = f × 5

⇒ f = w/s

⇒ f = 1000/5

⇒ f = 200 N

Therefore, the magnitude of force acting  on a box is 200 N.
