Answer» communication is the act of conveyingmeaningsfrom oneentityorgroupto another through the use of mutually understoodsignsandsemioticrules... The main steps inherent to allcommunicationare: The formation of communicativemotivationorreason. Messagecomposition (furtherinternalortechnicalelaboration on what exactly to express). Messageencoding(for example, intodigital data, written text, speech, pictures, gesturesand so on). Transmissionof the encoded message as a sequence of signals using a specificchannelormedium. Noise sources such as natural forces and in some cases human activity (bothintentionaland accidental) begin influencing the quality of signals propagating from the sender to one or more receivers. Effective communication for people (true for both students and non-students alike) is important for a few reasons. First, effective communication insures that listening (not hearing) takes place. Listening insures that what is being said is understood. If the dialogue is not understood, one can ask what is meant by something said. Second, effective communication saves time. if people do not effectively communicate, time is wasted. Instead of compromises, conflict ensues and nothing will ever get accomplished. Third, effective communication includes a balance between verbal and nonverbal communication. For example, if a person is verbally communicating that they are happy, but the face (nonverbal communication) states otherwise, the message can be conflicting for the listener. |
