13. From a rectangular plot of land 45 sq.m land has been left for a garden and theremaining part was kept for constructing a house which is square in shape. If thebreadth of the garden is 3 m, find how much land was kept for constructing house,[Ans. 225 sq.m]

Answer»

Given :-

Length of the size of land for MAKING a garden=3 m

The area of this land =45 sq.m

Let the length of this rectangular garden be l .

We know that :-

Formula for FINDING the area of a rectangle is:-

\bold{= area = length \times breadth}

Which means :-

The length of this rectangle :-

= l\times 3 = 45

= b =  \frac{45}{3}

= b = <klux>15</klux> \: m

Thus, the length of the garden =15 m

Then :-

The length of the garden = length of side of the squarical land for construction

Thus, the length of side of the sqaure shaped construction land =15 m

We know that :-

The formula for finding the area of of a square is :-

\bold{= area = side \:  \times  \: side}

Which means, the area of this squarical construction land:-

= 15 \times 15

= 225 \: sq.m

Thus, the area of this squarical PLOT of construction land =225 sq.m

Therefore, the area of land left for construction was =225 sq.m
